Chiller is not cooling the causes and solutions
Industrial chillers will inevitably have major and minor faults in the daily operation process, and general faults will have alarm prompts. But some do not alarm, so how do determine and eliminate the fault? Today, I will briefly introduce the reasons and solutions for the chiller not cooling.
1. The chiller is too small and the power is insufficient
Under normal circumstances, if the newly purchased chiller does not cool or the water temperature cannot be lowered, the main reason is that the chiller has insufficient cooling capacity. At this point, you only need to replace the larger cooler as needed.
2. The condenser has not been cleaned for a long time
The condenser is one of the main components of the refrigeration unit. Most cooling water contains calcium, magnesium ions, and carbonates. When cooling water flows on the metal surface, carbonates are formed. In addition, the oxygen dissolved in the cooling water can cause metal corrosion and rust. Due to rust, the heat exchange efficiency of the condenser is reduced, which affects the cooling effect.
3. The dry filter is clogged
The blockage of the dry filter will affect the heat exchange effect of the condenser, and the cooling effect of the whole machine is not good. Therefore, the filter needs to be inspected and cleaned regularly. If the blockage is severe, it is recommended to replace the filter drier with a new one.
4. Too many impurities in tap water
Too many impurities in the tap water adhere to the inner wall of the water tank and the water pipe, resulting in insufficient water supply, thereby affecting the cooling effect. Therefore, for areas with poor water quality, it is recommended to use a stainless steel structure or regularly clean and replace the water pipe to ensure the normal operation of the cooler.
5. Insufficient refrigerant (also called refrigerant)
The common types of refrigerators are R22, R410a, R407c, R134a, and so on. During the operation of the chiller, the liquid refrigerant in the evaporator continuously absorbs heat from the water and starts to evaporate. After passing through the compressor's compression and expansion valves, it becomes a low-temperature and low-pressure refrigerant and enters the evaporator to continue circulating. If used for a long time, the refrigerant will volatilize, thereby affecting the cooling effect. At this time, the user only needs to add refrigerant appropriately, and it does not rule out that improper installation will cause the leakage of the refrigerator and the problem of the machine itself.
6. The external environment temperature is too high
When the room is airtight or in an environment higher than 40°C, it is difficult for the air-cooled chiller to transfer heat to the outside, resulting in no cooling or even compressor high-pressure alarm.
7. The chiller is not cleaned and maintained for a long time
After a period of use, the cooling net of the chiller adsorbed a lot of dust and debris. If it is not cleaned for a long time, it will affect the heat dissipation performance of the machine, and the pipes are also prone to fouling, breeding bacteria, and reducing the cooling effect. Therefore, equipment and pipelines need to be cleaned and maintained regularly.
8. Other reasons
Insufficient power supply voltage and too long copper pipes connecting indoor and outdoor units can also cause the cooler or air conditioner to fail to cool. In addition, if the actual water temperature has reached the requirement, but the temperature on the display has not decreased, the temperature sensor of the cooler may be damaged. At this time, only the temperature sensor needs to be replaced.
In short, there are many reasons why the chiller does not cool. The above are common faults. The specific situation requires maintenance personnel to make judgments based on the actual use of the user.
